Actually they are called Texas Horned Frogs. This little reptile is tenacious and when attacked can shoot blood out of it's eyes for a distance of approximately 4' Several varieties exist from the smallest version which is the size of your thumb nail to the great Horned Frog which is approximately 6" long --- I know because I went to TCU - GO FROGS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TCU? TCU? TCU? Why does that sound familiar? Oh yeah, my wife's nephew is moving there to be an assistant coach for the football team. San Antonio I believe.

No kidding CW? It's in Fort Worth and he's got a great gig. We went undefeated last year and went to the Fiesta Bowl and unfortunately lost to Boise, close game but close only counts in hand grenades. They'll do very well next year too.........GO FROGS GO!

My brother and his family live in North Carolina where he says it's in the 90's, along with the humidity, and the water is in the 80's. They are coming home to Eastern Washington next week for a two week visit. I told them to bundle up and bring the wet suits because the water here is in the 60's and the temps aren't even reaching 80 yet.

They are spending a week at a condo on Coeur D' Alene Lake in Northern Idaho. Brrrrrrrrrrr.

And you wouldn't know how that truly feels until you got on a commercial flight to travel to Seattle...trust me. It's a long-ass haul, sista.

Try flying from Vietnam to Hawaii - not that I was complaining.

Actually, I was talking about the terrain/climate--in response to the pictures that were posted. I've never been to Texas or Louisiana. I have been to California--SF, LA and outskirts. It's always nice to be in climates where you can breathe. :D

There are a variety of climates in Texas, of course. In my little corner of the state, it is much like South Florida - very hot and humid. The system brought by Hurricane Alex has brought a lot of rain, but the temperature is below the mid-nineties for the first time in weeks.

98 here today but dry. We'll see what the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

Hmmm, looks like there's been some changes in the settings options :?: :?: :?:

Tough to vote on one single div being the strongest... Personally think it's a tie between the NFC North and NFC East - just my opinion. NFC sleeper could be Atlanta. Think I'll refrain from 'commenting' on my expectations for the AFC East :o

I believe your climate is more like the areas in Mississippi and Louisiana than in Miami/Miami Beach. Remember, we are a Beach town, with sandy beaches and palm trees; very, very different than the more swampy climates. Yes, we're hot and humid, but we have the ocean and bay bringing in the breezes.

Dred: Yes, Bills and Jet fans will tend to always pick their divisions (as would the Dallas fans their divisions). We have more Dallas fans here than we do Bills or Jets (I don't think we have any Jet fans). In fact, our biggest (and only, I believe) Patriot fan, PAO, is rarely around anymore. I hope that will change as football season gets closer, as I miss PAO terribly. Should he come back, though, he only has one vote and can pick two teams. As I understand it, you can't keep coming back and re-voting, so that should even the field (so to speak  ).

It's just another Saturday for me. Where are Absolute Truth and Linda? I thought that they were Patriots fans, although I'm not sure about that. I do know that Reecey and I are the only Texans fans, because we were the only full-time fans at Fox. I wonder what happened to Phantom Ace or to Bobby, our Eagles fan. I'm also curious about FFF, who was entertaining.

Phantom Ace told me about a year ago that his desire to blog was overshadowed by work and family responsibilities, and he was getting involved with a local politician's campaign. Thus...he's gone.

Yes, some losses are greater than others, though. I know Absolute keeps an occasional eye on this place. He has a lot of responsibility at home and his time is not always his own. As for our friend Bobby, I believe he fell on some hard times, and he left Atlanta (I think for Florida, where he has family). The Internet is not practical, or was not practical for him when last I heard. Every now and then, though, when I least expect it, they pop their heads in and say hello. I must say, I love it when they do!

Sadly, that's the way that life is. We don't have anything permanently, not even those that we love. Our children grow up and move away to lead their own lives. Our parents grow old and die. Sometimes a child dies, which seems unnatural. As we get older, more and more of our friends disappear due to one thing or another. All that we can do is love them as much as we can and let them go with love. Eventually, we have to let go ourselves. All things pass away.
