LOL, when we were behind I was thinking that we'd get the perfect season out of the way early and concentrate on finishing strong, which we have had to do every year. Last week it was all rush and this week it was all pass, but both were wins and that's good enough. We still have an impossible schedule, though. Next week we will have to face the Cowboys, who have their backs to the wall and will come out fighting.

I hear you, Em. Looks like the Fins are making a run for a second perfect season--it's so hard, but when you are a Dolfan, you get used to it!

LOL, we'll be thrilled to have a second winning season. The Texans don't have the history that the Dolphins have, so our fans have lower expectations. We remember that we are the newest team in the NFL and what we are looking for is progress. An improved pass defense would be a big help - we last in the NFL so far that we can't even see the other teams.

TEAM RANKINGS
Average OFFENSE DEFENSE
Points/Game 32.0 (1st) 25.5 (23rd)
Total Yards/Gm 440.5 (1st) 442.0 (31st)
Rush Yards/Gm 157.5 (1st) 31.0 (2nd)
Pass Yards/Gm 283.0 (6th) 411.0 (32nd)

Take a look at our team rankings. The offense could hardly be better and the rush defense is great. Our pass defense may be the worst that I've ever seen. The Texans are going to have to make major changes there if they are to keep winning. That's an invitation to every team we play.

LOL, I'm afraid that the Texans are the ones with the unenviable job of facing a Cowboys team with its back to the wall. They are a highly talented team and even their dreadful coaching can't hold them back forever. I'm really sweating this one.

NFL Power Rankings: Which Team is No. 1?

The weekly ranking are out on Fox and the Texans are ranked number 4. The computer SIM ranking is third. Before this year the Texans never cracked the top half in the rankings. It won't last, but I'm going to enjoy it until this weekend.

Thank you CK...but I'm not wallowing in grief by any means. We are 1-1 and still ATOP the NFC West Division. All is well. But thank you for caring!

And that is FANTASTIC!! about the Texans ranking. Well deserved.

And not take away from that well-earned spot, I laughed, however, because the Cowboys are ranked higher than the Seahawks and they are 0-2. WTF?!! What a steaming pile. Power Rankings are not "by the facts and numbers"...there's a bunch of personal bias included with it.

At the start of the year, my hope was that the Texans would continue to improve and not regress. I'll still be happy with that and the rest is lagniappe.

Lagniappe.

I had to look that up!! LOL I have a totally different mindset this season than I've had for the past 3 seasons. Alot of that has to do with the fact that we have a coach who truly inspires his players. I absolutely LOVE that about Pete Carroll. Even though we lost quite handily to the Broncos on Sunday, we didn't quit and we didn't look dejected. The Hawks kept playing with heart...I love that.

That said, I LOVE LOVE LOVE that the Texans are 2-0.

LOL, you live in the wrong part of the country to have run into lagniappe. It's used all of the time in Louisiana and here in Southeast Texas. If you go to the local Cajun market to by some boudain, you will always get lagniappe - perhaps some garlic or a bunch of green onions. If you have a little kid with you, it might be some candies. I think that it's a nice custom. As you might expect, you don't find that in chain supermarkets, but I avoid them anyway.

Agreed. They are playing with such determination, and yes to all the pundits that keep asking the question "Are they for Real?" I wish to hell they would stop asking! It should be clear to anyone who has watched them play, the Texans definitely ARE for real!!!

Not only that, Lady, the Seahawks look pretty damned good as well. They too play with determination, and a clear sense of direction. Carroll is doing some good stuff out there, and you have a lot of "Ws" to look forward to this year--enough to put you in the playoffs for sure.

Sorry, Lady. That was not a categorical assessment of your team's future, just a hug in understanding what it is like to suffer a loss. I am sure that the Seahawks are a force to be reckoned with this year.

It makes me nauseas when they give the Cowboys so much credit, for nothing really. Every year it's the same old rhetoric...like when are they going to recognize that Romo is not a good leader and the Texans are NOT America's team? Yet we have to listen to the talking heads blah, blah, blahing about the same old stuff... I was so frustrated on Sunday. No matter what channel I turned to, it was about the Cowboys, Pittsburgh and the Saints. Okay, the Saints are the returning world champion, but enough is enough! There are other teams, and we'd like to hear about them. With all due respect to Minnesota, the Dolphins won, and the just could or would not stop talking about Minnesota. I know you and I (Lady) disagree about Favre, but it wasn't even about Favre. Half the guys commentating have no business being there in the first place. I don't know how many sports channels I went through and heard the exact same stuff. It's like it was all canned..

LOL...no need to apologize CK. And I'm not the least bit sad about my team's loss on Sunday. Im ok really!! Thanks Mom!! ((Hugs to you)) :D

It's always tough to watch our teams play and the commentators are showing nothing but love to the other, more marketable team (i.e., Steelers/Cowboys/Packers/Vikings, etc.). It never ends...its just the way life is for us fans of "meager little teams." Ha!

I'm conflicted on the subject of media attention. It's nice hearing something good said about your team (especially when that hasn't happened before), but I like flying under the radar too. I hope that there isn't a jinx involved. The Texans haven't been on the cover of Sports Illustrated have they?

No, not yet, Em. Not for the Dolphins either. I just hope that when the Jets and Pats come to town (this week and next week) that we are the Dawgs. I also hope that our offense gets more cohesive! They haven't put up more than 15 points, and I don't care how good your defense is, if your offense can't score more than 15 points, you are going to start get burned! We need a dose of real chemistry in our offense. Henne and his receivers need to get way more comfortable with one another and Henne has to learn to get rid of the ball before the end of the quarter... Ah, if only I were coach...

LOL, we have the opposite problem. We are dead last in pass defense! We are sixth in passing yards, first in rushing yards, first in total offense and first in scoring. We are second in run defense, but only because everybody passes on us so easily. We just had really bad news, though. The key to all of that offense was that we finally got all of our offensive linemen healthy and they have been dominating. Now one of them just got a four-game suspension for doping. We already have the defensive rookie of the year suspended. When are those guys going to learn that they can't get away with that stuff? The team has an education program about it, posters everywhere and warnings that it won't be tolerated, but it doesn't seem to work.
