You're both from the wrong coasts. Now if BP would quit messing up ours. We haven't really had a problem yet, but it's been tough on the states east of us.

Yeah, I think I'll keep my coast thank you very much. I rather enjoy rolling out of bed to the So Cal climate and Pacific ocean. Those that want the snow and humidity can have it. ;)

We have heat and humidity in spades! Fortunately it is tempered somewhat by coastal breezes. I keep thinking that I will spend my summers - especially the late summer hurricane season - somewhere else. We have a light snow every ten or fifteen years and they let the schools out so that the kids can play in it. I don't personally know anybody who owns an overcoat. I had one when I was in Germany, but I gave it away long ago.

We had a super winter this year. For about 3 months we dipped into the forties at night and didn't get much out of the fifties during the day. As soon as I got my space heaters (NO heat in this house), I absolutely LOVED the weather. Then a friend reminded us that our fireplace is a working fireplace, so next winter the downstairs (at least) will be heated with the fireplace and I'll use space heaters for the upstairs...we'll be toasty warm. I really hope we do get the cool weather. We hadn't had a winter like that since the mid-'70s. After that, it just got hotter and hotter. Last year was our first break, and now this summer is definitely record-breaking brutal. You really can't do anything outside, save for walk to and from your car. It sucks. June, I'm sure was the hottest ever. July has been impossible. I dare to think what is coming in August and September...

LOL, Houston became a big city only after air-conditioning became affordable and it is no different here in my small town. You hurry from your air-conditioned home to your air-conditioned car to your air-conditioned office to an air-conditioned restaurant. I'm fortunate to have one of the few remaining wide porches, where it is tolerable much of the day. At the time that the home was built, parties were held on porches during the summer. There's a sun room for the winters -such as we have - but it is seldom used.

G' Afternoon...
Personally I love our seasons - all 4 of them although spring and autumn seem way too short. Don't care for the extremes, hot or cold. And don't much like the possibilities of tornadoes here. But hey, no earthquakes to speak of or hurricanes!
Sure hope it cools off for the NFL training camps - only a couple of weeks away.

ck, sent you smail - I think...

I 70? Wow, I 10 runs through my home town. Lady, spring isn't a big deal here, because we don't have much of a winter. Fall - what little we have - is MOST welcome! Like ck, most of the people here actually look forward to what passes for winter here.

Ms B---I replied. The mail system here seems to be efficient. I do find, however, that when I send a private message, (which BTW I do whenever a newbie joins)--I have to hit "submit" twice--as the first time I hit it, it comes up, but does not go out, then when I hit it the second time, it goes off in the mail.

As a matter of fact (IMHO), everything about this place works well, lol. I just love it here in our new crib!

About the only time that they close the roof on Reliant Stadium is when the weather is too hot. I'm sure that they will have the air conditioning running. They leave it open for rain or cold, but close it for heat. It wouldn't do to have fans hospitalized for heat prostration.

Oh we have 4 seasons here too, they just happen to be all summer and warm! :D
You can have the extremes and tornadoes and I'll stick with the occasional free roller coaster rides...

Did I mention that mosquitoes consider this area heaven? We have them even in the winter, if there is a south wind that they can ride in from the salt marshes. You don't stay outside once the sun goes down, unless the wind is out of the north.

ck, thank you for the welcome msg! Don't think this is gonna surprise anyone - just an attempt to rep my 'other' team. Still trying to find a full time NYG fan and not a mixed 'bag' like me - I know, lame, just couldn't resist....

Sure will be interesting to have the 1st ever SB in an open cold weather stadium in 2014. A gamble imo but football purists probably love the idea - we'll see.

The winters here are very mild. There is ample rainfall in every season and the soil is very rich, so it is possible to grow anything here. If you see a patch of brown grass, somebody has poisoned it. In the spring the azaleas bloom like crazy. Everybody grows them because it is effortless and there is a riot of color wherever you look. You can grow any kind of shade tree that you want. Gardeners love the place!

I got back from church a few minutes ago (Episcopalians, like Catholics, have early services) and something was using my computer. I think that I have that taken care of, but I had to reset a lot of preferences in consequence. Oddly enough, one of them was to reset the posts here to appear in ascending order. I guess that it will always be something.

I'm not a fan of C&W music, but the other day I was waiting in line and I heard a song whose lyrics consisted entirely of "Last night I gave up cigarettes and women and drinking. It was the worst fifteen minutes of my life."
