Unfortunately, I've watched train service deteriorate over the years (at least on the East Coast, Miami to Tampa, Miami to NYC or Boston). I'm talking about serious deterioration. It started subtlety enough--first the white table cloths were removed in the dining car and light cream for the coffee was substituted with half-and-half. A few years later, the dining car turned into a cafeteria-style car and the food turned into cafeteria food. I won't even go into "first class" service, but I can tell you a couple of things. There were no mints on the pillows, and the last time I went by train, a rat ran over my feet...
Last time I took Amtrak from NYC to Philly on business some dude puked all over the place, he was drunk and beligerant, yelling at people. Needless to say the cops were waiting for him at the next stop, he resisted and got Tasered. Interesting to see a human flopping around on the train platform like a fish out of water
YUCKY! Can't blame Amtrak for having a moron on the train, but he might have been puking because he got food poisoning in the cafeteria car. What a world we live in. You're young, 16, so you haven't seen nearly the time line that I have, and if I were doing a time line of this Country over the years of my life, it would be on a down-slant

"You're young, 16"????????? Oh dear CK...Please define young...I was born in '64
