My computer keeps going to blue screen. I hate that, but I hate it more when I am in the middle of a discussion here. I'm on Peter's computer now, until he comes in and throws me off, but now no one is here. The story of my life.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to buy a new computer. The one I have now was given to me during the last political campaign I worked a couple of years ago. It's supposed to be a good one (I picked it out), but not long after the campaign, it started this blue screen thing. The best part of getting a computer when you are working a campaign is, the tekkie loads all the programs and does all the stuff that needs to be done. I hope I can get Peter or my son Zach to do it for me when the time comes. Alternatively, I could use the big Mac computer I have in my office. When my office was downstairs in the family room, I really enjoyed sitting down there and computing. Big screen television in there, so I had a nice view and any programs I wanted to watch right there for me. Now that it's upstairs, for some reason, I feel really isolated. Maybe because there's no television?

Blue screens are usually a software problem. You could save everything and reload Windows from the disk. Then reload your software one program at a time to see when you start having problems. It would take a lot of time, but it could save buying another computer.

GOOD MORNING, SWITZERLAND!

Thanks for the info, Em. I'll tell my hubby and see if he'll do that for me. I am not computer savvy...

Dammit! It did it again. Every time I try to use the color, some of the code shows. That's it, I'm done with it. I'll do black (until I decide to try it again, lol).

You have to be careful to just use a single click. It will do the same thing with the size.

WHISTLE BLOW!!!

CK, I would suggest you clicking on the settings that you wish to use first before you start entering your text. That way it is easier for you to see if you accidentally hit something twice by a quick glance at the codes before you start typing. The cursor will also be in the proper place for the text once you do, then ALWAYS click the "Preview" button to see if it looks correct before you "Submit" it.

On another note; your previous question about "Blue screen" issues on your lap top, they can be caused by several different issues. One of the most common is registry errors. This can happen by a virus, (make sure you do a full scan if you have not recently) or by the registry files just being incorrect from removing something else that changed or corrupted the files. It can be from software/hardware incompatibilities or from a driver issue. If you know or can remember what you had last done before you incurred your first wonderful Blue Screen of Death, that would greatly help find the problem. Good luck.

Back in DOS days I could go to the Editor and fix things. Windows is so full of bloat that I don't even try. The most that I've done is alter my start-up file.

Hey, I just talked an old lady into going out with me for dinner and dancing tomorrow night. She's an Arthur Murray-trained dancer, too.

Colors aren't gonna make our players run any faster...sure doesn't help when a QB throws to the guy wearing the wrong color either.

Not necessarily. But they'd definitely get hit harder.

my point exactly, which in turn would give them motivation to run faster!

Well not all teams can wear pink. The color "Green" (as in millions of $$$$) sure doesn't make them play any better.

On Friday nights in Texas, the one preoccupation is with high school football. If you aren't from here, there is no way to explain how important it is. When a small town school has an away game, the town will be deserted because everybody will make the trip. I once saw a sign that said, "The last one out of town turn off the lights." LOL, the NFL Network Thursday games aren't popular because that's when we watch middle school football. The two major sports in Texas are football and spring training.

I'm glad to hear that. When I was playing high school football I loved it. Of course if you lost it didn't feels so good. That bus ride home seemed to last forever. Did you see the movie The Last Picture Show? The boys were catching hell in their home town because of their poor showing in the latest game. Thankfully I never had to face that.

We have the same, plus the big local rivalry game is broadcast live. I don't know who watches it though - it seems like the whole county is at the game. The high school that I attended is private, so the following is enthusiastic, but much smaller. We mostly play parochial schools.

I never missed one either, since I was playing. I followed my school team after graduation, but it no longer exits. It was a victim of consolidation. Now I just follow the local team.
