Good morning, dred. We had a little rain yesterday, but it looks like a fine day today. I've already had my first cup of coffee sitting in the porch swing, listening to the birds.

We had tulips in January, but in February temperatures got into the Seventies and the redbuds, tulip trees, pear trees, etc took over. To grow tulips here you have to dig up the bulbs and refrigerate them in your vegetable crisper for weeks before you plant them. I had a dog that loved to sit in the swing with me.

That's why I just have a rose garden. I have azaleas all around my block, just inside the fence, and dwarf azaleas in front of the house. The conditions are ideal for them here and they require very little care. When they are at their peak you can hardly see a leaf for all of the blooms.

Just don't overdo it, dred. Work is fine, but it isn't everything. Pet the dog for me.

I love, Love, LOVE this new Forum! Thank you (once again) for making me smile, dred, m'love. I've been in such a funk of late, and every time I think it is lifting, It suddenly sucks me under all over again. Depression/anxiety--now that is real pain! To top it off, the torn meniscus blew up again and I had to get my knee drained (second time in ten days). I don't so much mind that as I am blessed with an orthopedic surgeon who is not only gentle, waits until the numbing is complete before he starts poking that damned gigantic needle in too deep, and is very well versed in arachnoiditis, so he doesn't 'poo poo' it like so many 'caregivers' these days. Problem is, he shoots it will steroids after the drain, and I think that has a lot to do with the depression as well. Whine, whine, whine--sniffle, sniffle-boo hoo!
On a happier note, the 29th was my 41st wedding anniversary (same guy all 41 years, too). My kids were so sweet. We have a huge screen television downstairs--I want to say 55 inches (give or take 2 or 3"). Upstairs in my bedroom I had a 47" screen, but it was old school--square screen, weighing in at about 3 billion pounds. It was fine for me, but the glare used to drive everyone else crazy (and not that this is such a bad thing, but) I spent a lot of time watching t.v. alone because everyone would go downstairs to watch the television in the family room. Lo and behold, Zack and Abbie showed up with the mac daddy of televisions. No glare, great picture (my first HDTV), fabulous sound--I can't wait for FB season!!!!! BRING IT ON... <3

I've been out sitting in the porch swing, drinking coffee and listening to the birds. It's the quietest time of the day here and I really enjoy it.

G' Morning and TGIF :) . My weather is pretty much the same as dred's. While I'm happy living in IN for lots of reasons (4 seasons, affordability, ease of getting around and... the COLTS play here - lol!), I was lucky enough to grow up in a great 'neighborhood' where, while the attire has changed, this is a typical site:

I live in a so-called historical district. It's a more respectful way to say Old Town. My own home was built in 1907-08, while the newest homes were built in the 1920's, in an era of confidence before the stock market crash. I have a whole block to myself (a small block, but all my own) and all of the homes have porches. It's out of the high traffic areas and set up for walking, with good sidewalks everywhere and lots of shade trees. I just love it!
