I'm not so bummed as you might suppose from Monday night's game because I totally expected it. The team has been winning via smoke and mirrors and actually, I'm relieved that the truth is now out in the open. Ross and Philbin were so busy reading the hot damn reviews about the Fins that they forgot to pay attention to the details (such as the fact that Ryan T has a huge problem letting go of the ball, which is a necessity under any circumstances, but particularly important when you have no offensive line). That, of course, is just one of the issues. The defense, I hope they recognized, is not an iron curtain. I would say that when they play the top tier teams, it's more like a crocheted drape.
I continue to despise the owner and believe that Philbin is no genius and barely adequate as a head coach.
The fans immediately responded to the wins and the stadium was packed for our first home game. I've been sitting in a half-empty stadium for threeish years now and it felt good to see the fans feeling good about themselves and their team, but the cost of an NFL ticket is too high to hope that people will keep showing up to sit through abysmal losses such as those the Dolphins have been handing up for several years now.
I resent the attitude of Ross that we're just awful fans and he's going to take the Fins away from us. Here in South Florida we have swimming, fishing, skiing, two college teams to follow, surfing boating, tennis in the outdoors and so many other diversions that do not sap up close to $100. a seat plus $8. a beer and then leave you feeling like you have been mugged and robbed. He dares to question our loyalty in this economy??? I am lucky enough to be able to afford our four seats, but for years now it's been a mission to get people to fill them. It's October now and the temps are still boiling in the low 90s with humidity that makes breathing a chore. Give us a product and we respond...
It's no easy life being a Dolfan...
