Foster's blocking back, Voda Leech, also made the AP All Pro team. He's awfully rough of linebackers.

The Houston Texans are my favorite to win the Super Bowl. Of course, I guess that they will have to make the playoffs first. Oh well, maybe someday. Never give up! Never give up!

My fantasy is that the Texans will outbid every other team in the NFL for Nnamdi Asomugha. He's maybe the best cornerback in football and would really make a difference in our very bad secondary. I'd have hell trying to learn to pronounce his name, but it would be worth it.

It looks like the Texans are serious about improving their pitiful pass defense. They fired their defensive coordinator and some defensive coaches and hired Wade Phillips as their new defensive coordinator. Now they have cut their starting free safety, among others. Considering how bad they were, they would have a hard time getting worse.

The Texans has resigned their very good tight end, Owen Daniels. The news that I would like to hear is that they have signed some top free agent defensive backs.

I was happy to read that Matt Schaub is leading the Texans in workouts and is asserting himself as team leader. I've been waiting for somebody to step up. Meanwhile the club is still concentrating on trying to put together a defense. It will help if the defending will just quit batting down Hail Mary passes into the receiver's hands. Our defense found new ways to lose games last season, after great performances by our offense.

The Houston Texans cheerleader tryouts are this Saturday. We don't know if there will be a football season, but the cheerleaders will be ready.

I found this list of the Texans team needs. Most notably, only defensive positions are considered. I can't disagree with that.

FS – There is no way the Texans can risk another season of Eugene Wilson manning this spot. The foundation of this defense needs a lot of cement filler, beginning with the last line of defense. Wilson was reason number one for why Houston had the worst pass defense in the entire league. Unless the Texans like their toast burnt and crispy in the morning it’s hard to imagine Wilson being on the roster in ’11.

NT – Finding a nose piece for new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips’ 3-4 scheme will be an important factor. It remains to be seen how Amobi Okoye and Earl Mitchell will be implemented as they transition from the 4-3 to the 3-4. Houston could probably get by with Shaun Cody and Damione Lewis in the short-term but they are viewed more as hold-the-fort guys. A long-term solution may not exist on the current roster.

LB – The switch to the 3-4 scheme means the Texans will be on the lookout for personnel that fit the Wade Phillips mold. The team has stated that Brian Cushing will remain inside, next to DeMeco Ryans. The Texans are hoping that Connor Barwin can return from injury and compete for one of the starting outside spots. Some competition and depth would be beneficial to inject into the mix, along with Kevin Bentley and Zach Diles, who could probably play inside or outside.

CB – The young duo of Glover Quinn and Kareem Jackson is inexperienced and it showed last season. Counting on Jackson to fill the void created by the departure of Dunta Robinson in free agency last year was a costly mistake. While Jackson shows promise, the Texans have discussed the proposition of moving Quinn to free safety. In order to do so, more reliable cornerbacks will have to be brought in. Late-season signing Jason Allen should stick but Brice McCain and Sherrick McManis are roster bottom feeders.

SS – There have been mixed indications as to whether the team’s leading tackler (111), Benard Pollard will be back with the team. He provides veteran leadership both on and off the field, and would be missed if he isn’t brought back. One backup plan could be moving Troy Nolan from free safety to strong safety. This roster is undergoing a major facelift with a lot of moving parts, so exploring this need in the draft is a possibility.

[size=150][color=#00BF80]Well Em, the good and the bad news are both the same: You can't go by last year because it seems the teams vary so dramatically from year to year. A killer team last year, could be your easiest win this year and the team you could have beat with all your players injured or out all together last year, might be your toughest competitor this year (IF and ONLY IF there is a season at all coming up). The Phins were what, 1 and 15 in 2008; improved to 15 and 1 the followng season, and then last year were 7 and 9. Go figure!!! (((((Looking around for a scratching the head smiley  .)

I was reading an article about the teams hurt most by the lockout. One that was mentioned was the Houston Texans. They have a new defensive coordinator, Wade Phillips, who has a lot of changes to make, given that the Texans defense is a joke. Not having the mini camps to install things is hurting now.

One thing that Wade has going for him as the new defensive coordinator for the Houston Texans is that his defense won't have to be very good to be an improvement. How high can expectations be?
