Nice new place, but when will the furniture be moved in? I'll be back at Happy Hour.

I'm impressed. Glad to see the new lounge is up and running already. Let's drink to a better year for all of us!

Where is everybody? This place is as empty as the Houston Texans fan club. There's not even a bartender, so I guess that I'll pour my own.

On Saturday my church is having a chili sale to benefit a local charity. I think that I will bring home a lot of it to use as a base for Super Bowl food. They make pretty good chili, too.

I've ordered flowers and candy for everybody on my Valentine's list. Pro Flowers and Godiva make it easy. I was tempted to order some dark chocolate truffles for myself, but I'd sit there and eat the whole box if I did.

LOL, I try to avoid sending Valentine's Day gifts to married ladies, even the ones that I love. Some husbands are of a low, suspicious nature.

I do want to wish all of the beautiful ladies of Switzerland a wonderful Valentine's Day, though. Feel appreciated!

Have a wonderful time! I'm often tempted to go back to Germany, but not at this time of year. I'm sure that it's very different from the way it was when I was a graduate student there.

The tulip trees are in full bloom. Strangely, they are a type of magnolia, although they are not evergreens and look nothing alike. Of course, live oaks and white oaks don't look much alike either.

With daily temperatures in the mid-seventies, it's hard to believe that it's still February. I didn't realize how many redbud trees we had in town until they all started blooming.

Absolutely LOVE the photos of spring in TX. We seem to be having an early spring here in FL as well. The weather is lovely, but I had hoped for more of the colder weather; however, I have to be happy that at least the humidity is low. Once the humidity gets its teeth back into us, well, that's when it gets really tough!

I'm enjoying it while I can. August and September can be almost unbearable here, even if we miss the hurricanes. I keep telling myself that I'll find somewhere else to spend the late summers - maybe in the mountains or the Pacific Northwest.

Same here, Em. It starts in June, though, and like a fire it heats up more each month until by August, it is suffocating. September is worse! This past year, for the first time in recent history a subtle change in humidity started in October. That's the way it was when I was growing up here--save for the change started in September and by late October--certainly by Halloween--it cooled perceptibly. This winter has been mild and beautiful. I would have preferred a few more cold days, but I'd have to be a fool to complain about the days in the low 80s and nights in the 60s/70s. I'm still holding out hope that we'll have at least one more chill before April, but I'm not counting on it.

CK did you catch the whole interview last night? The guy is truly whacked out of his mind, his father must be so proud.

Since celebrities bore me, I don't even know what this is about, but I trust the views of our Swiss.

Not sure which topic this falls under but wanted to welcome Deb341, a Ravens fan and friend of mine. Hmmm, maybe we can get a Ravens icon added here??? I suggested and believe she's checking out the 'Peaceful Corner' topic to help navigate the site.
