The difference between the zoo and the black hole is that at the zoo the only ones that throw feces are the monkeys. ;)

I grew up as a Bronco fan in Northern California a few hundred miles north of Oakland. I NEVER went to a game in Oakland.

Actually I was surrounded by 49er and Raider fans. I could always tell the difference though even without football garb on. The 49er fans bathed. I always felt in enemy territory.

What's it like in northern California? It must be more interesting than here, where it's a flat as a pool table. This is bayou country and we have to put up signs to the water will know which way to run.

Well that's hard to answer since its probably a thousand square miles or more. It is so diverse. A lot of mountains where I grew up. I lived in an area known as the Trinity Alps. Its like a miniature version of the Swiss Alps. Wow... I guess I have just returned full cycle by hanging out in Switzerland.

The pic below is the Caribou Lake Chain. Behind it is Sawtooth Peak. I used to hike all the time. Our family owned horses as well and we would ride them up into the mountains.I had a great childhood.

Oops! Sorry about that, kicks. I live in the house that I was raised in and that my dad was raised in. It might not be the latest and greatest, but it does give me a sense of place.

I lived in such a wonderful town. It was fairly old with lots of history. As you can tell from the main street view it was quite beautiful. The Trinity Alps are in the background and there are probably at least 200 alpine lakes of which I have visited most. It was a very small town. About 3,000 people. Everybody knew everybody. I am probably over 1000 miles away from there now here in Arizona. I haven't been there in a long time. I should go visit.

Just don't expect it to look the same to you, even if nothing at all has changed. I was surprised at how different everything looked to me after coming home after being away for thirty years. The place hadn't changed, but I had.

I hear you and know exactly what you mean. I was away for about a decade and it was the same but "different". I have been away for about 8 years this last time. I cut and pasted a blurb on the Trinity Alps below. They are huge. Thanks for asking about Northern California. What memories.

Trinity County , known for its gracious hospitality and golden history, also has many outdoor splendors to offer the adventurer and recreationist. Spectacular vistas and pristine lakes abound in natural beauty.

The 517,000 acre Trinity Alps Wilderness Area is one of the largest wilderness areas in the United States. They form a breathtaking backdrop to the area and provide the adventurous with a place of unusual solitude and beauty. With air so clean you can taste its freshness you find yourself surrounded by wild beauty and jagged granite peaks.

I'm interested in the initiative to legalize the recreational use of marijuana in California. I notice that a former Surgeon General has come out in favor of it, saying that it should be treated the same as the drug alcohol.

Well, I'm going out for dinner and then I'll catch most of the game, especially since it's a division game.

(((((Realizes she is completely alone and has been posting to herself for nearly an hour now. Pushes an imaginary piece of paper out of her way with the cane, and begins whistling "Show Me the Way to go Home." Stops at a small table, takes her pen and one of her cards out of her very chic woven leather handbag, leans and writes: "Sorry I missed you, dear. Perhaps tomorrow. Big hugs!" Sticks the card on the wall mirror, noting how easily it slips onto it. Places her pen back into her purse, and starts the walk home... (Note to self: Why aren't there any walking smilies?)
