WELCOME TO OUR NEW HOME!

Postby cklaurence » Sun Jun 13, 2010 12:26 pm

So, Swiss Family--here we are. I know the Board is different, and there will be a learning curve--but it's the same old Switzerland! Better still, Football is right around the corner! I look forward to all your thoughts and comments, and hope it won't be as difficult for most of you to navigate the site and learn how things are done, as it has been for me, lol. I see we have better smilies here, as well as a larger selection of them

I am anxious to hear your thoughts and opinions (mostly your positive ones--hee hee). Thank you for staying faithful to old the old Swissies, and to any and all new comers--please read the rules, register and talk some football!!!

I appreciate Bags and Try allowing me to use them as the test tube babies for the new blog, and now, we are ready for the rest of the Swiss family to move on over here...

I'm sure that I'm going to love this place as soon as I get familiar with it. It took me forever just to figure out how to post. Thanks for our new home, ck!

I've had no luck trying to post pictures here. Somebody will have to school me on the methods.

GETTING STARTED...

Postby cklaurence » Fri Jun 18, 2010 9:14 am

HELLO TO MY DEAR SWISS FAMILY!

IF YOU ARE HERE VIA cklaurence.com/phpbb THEN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIGURE THE FORUM OUT ON YOUR OWN. IF YOU HAVE COME VIA cklaurence.com - THEN YOU ARE SCRUNCHED INTO A SMALL SCREEN AND PROBABLY CAN'T FIGURE ANYTHING OUT. MY APOLOGIES--WEBMASTER GOT CARRIED AWAY WITH THE WEB DESIGN AND TRIED TO ATTACH THE BLOG BY INTRODUCING IT THROUGH MY WEB THEME. THIS WILL BE CORRECTED--SOON I HOPE.

IF YOU ARE IN THE SMALL SCREEN VERSION, JUST OPEN A NEW TAB AND type in cklaurence.com/phpbb. THAT OUGHT TO ANSWER MOST OF YOUR QUESTIONS. THE REST YOU CAN ASK EITHER PUBLICLY OR PRIVATELY...

Hey Em! It was only fitting that you should be the first of the Swiss Family here--seeings as you were the first at our old home as well! As I understand it, picture posting here is much the same as it was at our old home; however, I will check it out. Keeping the Peace is still in classes learning the system--he'll know more than I when he is finished  .

I'm still looking at this stuff. It looks something like some of the forums at Fox.

16--in response to your question about the avatar (over at our dear old Switzerland)--there is a size constraint here and you need to re-size your avatar to fit 90x90 pixels(?). My husband made mine fit...

Yes Em--this is far more sophisticated than my old blog--and probably resembles the other, bigger blogs. I was schooled (a little)--and immediately learned that this is not a "blog," but a "forum." I had no idea how basic my old blog was (it seemed to work for us, though) until I got into re-working it...

There will definitely be a learning curve here for everyone, but ultimately I believe it is well-worth it.

I'm sure that you are right, ck. I had a hard time trying to find my way back to this point, so I'll bookmark it. I think that you have to enter URLs to post pictures, but since I can't get Paste to work, I'd have to write them down and type them in. I'm sure that there is a better way.

G' Morning ck - special day for you! Congrats and thanks for continuring 'Swiss'...

Em, to post a pic, I scrolled down on the post reply to 'upload attachment' and it worked for my Blue Zone topic.

16F, on the avatar I couldn't upload one either due to size. Had to have someone use photoshop to resize - believe ck is trying to adjust the dimenstions allowed to facilitate the av changes.

Enjoy your Friday all~

ck, I just pointed to the image that I had on my computer to check the size. Then I used a calculator to determine how much I would have to reduce it to make it fit in 90 by 90 pixels. I right-clicked on the image to open the menu, and clicked on edit. That opened it in Paint. There's a stretch-shrink image option under the Image button. It took me a couple of reductions (fortunately it is by percentage), but I got mine to exactly 90 by 90 pixels.

Good morning Swissies.

I'm curious. Is there a way to change the page so that the last post is at the top? Like the old format?

Sure, Lady Hawk. There's an Ascending/Descending box at the bottom of the page. Just switch them and your page will show the last entry first.

Unfortunately, it seems to reset every time that you leave. On the other hand, changing it back is pretty easy.

Keep working at this--I'm going to get my husband to come online later tonight when he gets home so he can answer questions should any still be left then. I have faith that you all will have figured everything out by then, though.
