Andre Johnson already has a long touchdown reception in the first quarter, so I guess that he's done for the game. The defender was left there looking foolish. It's almost unfair.

At least it appears the second half of our game will be a little drier. I can't imagine that the field will be, though.

The Texans pulled their starters before the end of the first quarter. I guess that they know what they can do. We have such a huge drop off at quarterback when Matt Schaub comes out. We go from the guy who led the NFL in passing to bums.

I liked Sage when he played for us. He won some games for the Texans when Schaub was injured. On the other hand, he lost some by trying to do too much by himself. He needs to learn that football is a team game. He never quits, though.

Sage was pretty cocky when he played here. We were notable for being a team with a first and third string QB... both Jews. Sage liked to make it clear that his mother was not Jewish so he was not raised as a Jew... You know me, I go getting my dander up every time people squirm when they are mistaken for a Jew. :(

I'm really happy with our starting quarterback, Matt Schaub. Last season he led the NFL in passing with 4770 yards. But if he's injured, we're dead. I wish that we had kept Sage Rosenfels for insurance.

Sage Rosenfels isn't that great, Em, or he would be the Dolphins' QB. He's much better as a back-up.
I'm not sure what's going on with the Phins either. Henne to Marshall wasn't exactly lighting up the boards the other night and everything else was mediocre--very "first game-ish." Ah, but next week is another week (YAYYYYYY!!!), so we'll see where we go with that.

I was very happy with the Texans defense against the Cardinals. The Cardinals have a fine offense, but they were only able to score in the fourth quarter, against people who will no longer be with the Texans after the cuts were made. I was less pleased with the running game. They gained yards, but were unable to punch it over the goal line. Well, they did, but Slaton fumbled the ball away.

Of course, if Sage was still with the Texans, he'd still be the backup. Matt Schaub is our starter as long as he's healthy.

Don't remember seeing much of our running game. As far as I'm concerned, they can sit all three of our running backs till right before season. We all know they're good, so let's not take any chances.

LOL, we do the running back by committee thing, too. The difference is that all of ours need to prove themselves. Slaton is our best runner, but he fumbles.

For some reason, that seems to be a common problem with runners.

Look at what's happening with Adrian Petersen...he's having some big problems negotiating his contract because of his constant fumbles. I don't blame them for not wanting to raise him up unless he toughens up with that ball! He is amazing to watch. Just one of the incredible players that comes along and catches your attention, and then OOPS! the ball is out...

A lot of it has to do with the way that the runner carries the ball. Emmit Smith never fumbled and he cured some other runners of fumbling. He carried the ball high, with his forearm covering the ball and the ens tucked into his elbow and armpit. Defenders couldn't punch the ball out. Most runners don't like to do that because they use their arms for balance, but that leaves the ball hung out there.

Has anyone seen Peace around? Strange things have been happening around here. I got thrown out of a room where I was posting to you, Try--next thing I know it's telling me to "review my post," and I'm in another room with Reecey and dred. Strange things are happening! Peter is out in the garage working on his radio control airplanes (but he's not as good as Peace, anyway--...

Aha! You think that's what he's doing. Actually he's using the remote control to mess with the posts here. Very clever!

WHISTLE BLOW!!!

CK if you are talking about the message that pops up when you post and it just doesn't automatically post it? That is because from the time that you started writing your post until the time you tried to post it someone else or multiple other people have since posted. So it is trying to give you an option to check your post against what was posted since just in case you want to adjust it in the mean time.
All you have to do if that happens is just hit the "submit" button again.

I like having the opportunity to review. It has kept me from echoing other people's remarks several times. So much for being original.

I've had to evacuate ahead of two hurricanes, so at this time of year I stay packed so that I can leave as soon as one heads toward Beaumont, Texas.

Sorry--last dinner in our quiet home, just me and the hubby. I'm thrilled that Abby and Zack are on their way and will be home tomorrow a.m. (Josh to follow on Monday), but it was really nice being able to have those nice quiet times together. Of course, Abby and Josh will be moving out almost immediately--and I'm thinking Zack also will be moving out as well--so I will be absolutely miserable with all the quiet in this place. It will be the first time in 31 years the two of us will be completely alone. I honestly don't know how I will be able to stand it. As much as I love this home, I'm afraid I will spend all my time crying and remembering how wonderful the wonderful times were. Definitely time to get the hell out of here and move to a new venue, with less love invested...
