Don't be silly, Lady. Of course I love YOU more than I love football; but football is next in line!

LOL...whoops. What I meant was, if you love football more than I do (most likely),then I'm cool with it.

I knew that Lady--I just thought I'd have some fun with you. For some unknown reason, I am feeling lighthearted this afternoon. Maybe it's because there is a "Bones" marathon on. I love "Bones" a lot too.

Hawks are not going for the division title this year

Postby LadyHawk » Mon Sep 06, 2010 11:18 pm

The Seahawks don't want to put the dreaded "R" (rebuild) label on what they're doing, but that's their reality. They're not "going after our division right now," as coach Pete Carroll proclaimed upon his arrival eight months ago. The front office is using this season as one big evaluation period, and it will keep shuffling the roster, attempting to find long-term solutions to the huge problem it inherited. That's how the first season in every rebuilding process must work.

The problem is that the Seahawks took a sledgehammer to their roster just days before the season is set to begin. It means they're almost guaranteed to start the year slowly because so many new players must get comfortable.

Rebuilding it is, Lady--you are so right! I hope your rebuilding doesn't take as long as our rebuilding. Three years into our "new" coach and we are still trying to get comfortable...

It's reported that RB Julius Jones was going to be cut from the team, but offered to take a pay decrease...that kept him on the team (for now).

Julius Jones was pretty good when he played for the Cowboys. A player willing to take a pay cut to stay with a team says a lot about his confidence in the team. They don't take pay cuts to stay with losers.

He's not that great an RB, Emeritus. He did it because he's probably fairly certain that no one else will pick him up to play.

I never saw him play with the Seahawks - I only remember him from his days with the Cowboys. The Texans have found plenty of backs who can run well, but they all fumble at the worst possible time, usually near one goal line or the other. Last year the team abandoned running because our receivers are so much better at holding onto the ball and they won their last four games.

Julius Jones averaged 3.7 yards per carry in 2009... 2 TDs. That's a "so-so" performance.

Justin Forsett average 5.4 yards per carry in 2009. And it was just announced that he will be our starting RB against the 9ers on Sunday. Woot! Woot!!

Good luck against the Niners! They are one of the teams that I still don't have an handle on. What do you think of them?

The 9ers are going to be THE TEAM team to beat in the NFC West this season. Singletary has built a solid team.

I'm glad to see Sing having success, because I always admired him. I think that the Niners might be a case of a team with talent needing somebody to make them play up to their talent level. Mike isn't the sort of coach who will appreciate a lackadaisical effort. I personally think it's what is keeping the Cowboys from being a dominate team. Nobody will ever confuse Wade Phillips with Mike Singletary.

Leadership always starts at the TOP. As with any employer, the employees must respect the leadership if the "team" is to thrive and succeed.

That's true, of course. If an organization goes too bad, sometimes it is necessary to get rid of everybody who accepts failure to turn things around. I've seen that happen and it meant hardship for a lot of people who were dismissed, as well as for their families. On the other hand, it saved everybody else's jobs, because the company stayed in business.

Did I forget you this morning, 16? I totally meant to tell you that even though you were not one of the core family from the Olde Switzerland, you certainly earned the family's respect when we were still there. It goes without saying (but I'm saying it anyway), you are loved dearly. You stayed with us when we moved, and unlike a lot of others who I held dear, you have stayed and played nearly every day. I don't think I can express properly how very much that means to me. It was a very tough transition from The Olde to The New, and in the past (and occasionally in the present), I have opened up about the hurt I feel over those who moved out and onto other venues, I guess without looking back. I digress, and I apologize. Thank you so much for your support, your humor, your loyalty and for keeping me, and many others I am sure, smiling/laughing, and generally making Switzerland, Switzerland. Big hugs to dear 16! :D :!:

Can you find affordable parking in Seattle? You have to take out a second mortgage to park in downtown SF.

It depends on what time you get into downtown and what garage you can find. It is NOT cheap to park in downtown Seattle. Parking in my building for the day? $25

In SF you're looking around $30-$40 for covered garage parking, $10-$15 will get you about a 12 block walk...I never had to drive fortunately because I lived within walking distance from the Financial District, nice walk through North Beach. Rainy days I just took the bus.
