We've been having violent thunderstorms the last few days, but it's clear and hot now. The last two days it's been over a hundred degrees in the shade. In the sun, the asphalt is soft and it sucks at your shoes when you walk across it.

We've been having rather strange weather. We have these short, but very violent thunderstorms. The noise is awful, and of course, the lightning is always a show. The thing is, they stop as quickly as they start, and then they are gone. Just like that...
Today, however, has been grey and rainy since early a.m.. I got soaked during my walk this morning (it was actually nice to cool down like that ;) --at least the humidity was gone for a few...

LOL, the seventies and eighties are just something to hope for here. All of September will be blistering hot. It will probably be late October before we get any relief. I'm ready for a blue norther!

I don't know if "blue norther" is a term particular to the central plains part of the country or not. It's a late summer cool front that moves down from Canada, diving under the hot, humid air from the Gulf of Mexico. It starts as a dark line across the sky to the north. First there's a rising breeze from the south, as the warmer air rises over the front. As the clouds reach you, the wind switches from out of the north, and the temperature drop is amazing! All of this is usually accompanied by a heavy rain and then clearing skies behind the front. It is always most welcome!

No "Blue Northers" down this way, Em--but sure sounds like they'd be welcomed. Almost nothing makes it cooler here.

I imagine not, ck. It's a continental effect, and you're on an offshoot from the continent.

At daylight it was only 75 degrees here. That's the coolest that it's been in months. It's supposed to be another blistering day with scattered thunderstorms, but I'm hoping that the cooler morning is the start of a trend.

GOOD AFTERNOON, SWITZERLAND..

Yes, it appears that Ped and I are lost in the land of South Florida, which has not yet acknowledged that summer is over... The great news is that we don't have a game here till the end of the month, and it is at night; although, if this weather continues, doesn't mean a thing that it's at night--still steamy then too.

Thankfully Reliant Stadium has a movable roof. They don't close it for rain or cold, but they do close it for hot weather.

Ha! The Dolphins have always used the hot weather to their advantage, save for the fact that in the past several years, it hasn't seemed to help. :ugeek:

Well, I had some spare time, so I thought I'd come by and visit here. From the Board Index, I note that (once again) I am the only one here. Oh well. Should anyone stop by later, have a great evening...

Mark Twain said that he had two good reasons to talk to himself. First, he enjoyed hearing a smart man talk, and second, he liked to address somebody with the intelligence to follow what he had to say.

I've always liked Mark Twain. Me? I don't much care to talk to myself, as you might have noticed; however, there have been occasions where I've appreciated not getting any argument to some of the dumber things I write and say...

LOL. Sadly, people don't. It's the Offensive Lineman Rule - nobody notices you until you mess up. Receivers can run the wrong routes and quarterbacks can make bad throws and nobody cares. If a lineman get caught holding, not only does everybody notice, but the team gets penalized, too. The unfair thing is that these are the guys who make it all work, who are fighting harder than anybody on the field.

He certainly contributed to it, but was it his fault that the Cowboys were in a position where they needed to come from behind in the last seconds? I'd be glad to see him gone and really have no idea why the Cowboys picked him up, but he didn't make decisions like that disastrous pitch out before the end of the half.

The root cause for their offensive woes is Jason Garrett, the dude is absolutley clueless.

A few years ago they were saying that Jason Garrett was a genius and he was offered at least one head coaching job that I know of. He was given a new title and head coaching money to stay. Everybody figured that Wade would just be an interim coach - that Garret would soon get the job. Since then he's had all of the talent in the world to work with and the team has won exactly one playoff game.
