Why thank you Em! Acting like a jackass is second nature to me, I fully embrace self degrogation...so did you folks over in Beaumont get hit with the tropical storm? I'm about 300 miles to your West and we had 65mph winds and 7" of rain yesterday. My sister who lives in Ft Worth said they've had 9" today...YIKES!

We didn't get much wind, but it came a frog strangler. I got caught out in it and I had to pull over because I couldn't see where I was going. There were fools going by at high speed, just trusting that there was nothing in front of them. It has been threatening thunderstorms all day today.

The wind was wicked insane, the rain was a torrent going horizontal...people who drive normal speed baffle me, I was on my way home from a friend's dad's funeral yesterday (what a day it was for the memorial service) and this lady in a SUV blew by me, hydroplaned and did a 180 into a guard rail...same during ice storms...Uh HELLO dumbasses.

The world is a strange place when you have a super right wing evangelist wanting to burn Korans. How about we burn him and save God from having to push the "down button" for him? What a psycho sicko.

Ok back to football...The Lions will beat the Bears this weekend. BANK IT!

I consider myself religious, but zealots frighten me. I'm not at all surprised to read that the preacher was walking around with a gun. It wasn't exactly the reaction of Jesus when his own life was threated. Book burning is one the most culturally bankrupt and morally repugnant acts that a society can commit.

Em I concur fully! Any book burning is a total violation of the Bill of Rights...Regarding religious psychos, one only has to look back to Jim Jones and David Koresh...zealots are recipes for a disaster, they pray upon the weak minded.

The book burning has always been a key fear of mine; however, this show by zealots burning Korans is insufferable and totally unacceptable! There is nothing we can do, but perhaps those who have religion might consider praying for those who think burning bibles teaches any kind of lesson. I was watching one of those despicable 'preachers' this morning, and I thought, "Why are they giving these people air time????" If we ignored them and no one paid them any attention, eventually, they would pack up their matches and go home to beat up their children. Twenty-four hour news will be the demise of this country and probably, eventually, the world (unless someone starts burning down news stations, lol). As PAO used to say: God help us all.

BTW, we've been having wicked little thunder snits every evening. The noise is killer. And then they go away.

I hope the Dolphins win this week.

I don't know 16--everything Dolphin is so untested. The defense has lost its heart and soul in the Taylor move, and I don't know what veteran can or will rise up to take his place and lead those kids. I suppose if I said (one more time) how stupid I think it was to let Taylor go, the Swissies might consider me redundant, but it was a really stupid move. I was told over and over again, "it's Parcell's way. He wants his people in there and it will be great." P.S. Have you heard the news? Parcells is out. :o  "His" coach will be gone at the end of this year--everyone knows that, and it has to be disheartening to a team that was recruited by Parcells and Sparano. I can't begin to say how awful I think things are when they make an announcement like that at the beginning, no, not the beginning, THE FIRST WEEK of season. We are in trouble.

CK it was my understanding that The Tuna wasn't going to be there next year anyway and he wanted to hand it over to Ireland and Sparano now...The fact that he is staying on as a "day to day consultant" can't be reassuring though.

You know Tuna doesn't stay anywhere for long, 16; however, he usually leaves a team that has won a SB--not one that isn't even close. I am so tired of the big promises with nothing to show for them. It is heartbreaking to a fan like me. My biological clock keeps ticking and I was hoping to see one more Dolphin SB before I leave this Earth...

Boy, that goes back a while. I can remember TCU being ranked number three in the nation back in the Southwest Conference days, but I was just a kid then.

Em, Bob Lilly Jr. was my college roommate and fraternity brother (SAE), we're still very close, he could never live up to Sr's reputation on the football field but his dad is one total class act.

This is a sad truth. I'd like to believe that everyone--players and owners alike--will behave as adults and do what's right for the fans (I mean, am I out of line thinking the fans are what it is all about?). You know, settle their differences, try not to be too selfish. Isn't there enough money to go around and make everyone happy?

On a sweeter note, I've got my popcorn out already; a front-row seat by the big screen t.v.; sodas are cold; Grey Goose is even colder, and a happy face on cuz FOOTBALL SEASON OPENS TONIGHT.... WHOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!

16, Bob Lily was a hero. The only thing that you ever heard about him was his Pro Bowl-caliber play and the charities that he was involved in. He never boasted or acted macho or sought attention. Tom Landry called him the greatest football player that he ever saw.

Good morning and a very hearty TGIFF!

Em, he was a beast on the field and a true gentleman off it. In real life he's very soft spoken and humble.

So moving to last night's game, I thought it was going to be much higher scoring...Favre looked ragged out in the 2nd half...I don't think he will be able to last the whole season.

Onward we roll..............GO NINERS!

As I said on the Just Football topic, I was surprised at how little scoring there was, giving the offenses that the two teams have.

The Saints pass vs. rush ratio was way skewed in the first half. Both offenses looked anemic as a whole. The Saints had some good D adjustments at the half...Vilma's interception turned the game for good IMO. That hit Favre took that sandwiched him between the defender and his own lineman looked painful

I feel that for this game in particular, considering the 16 hits he took in that play-off game last year, the consideration for the first game of the season was to keep Favre protected. That is probably why the had so many running plays. Regardless, he ended up taking that awful hit. A few more like that this year? Well, let's just say that line needs to PROTECT THEIR QUARTERBACK!

Was it just me, or did Farve look old? He started the game well, but it seemed to me that he played older and older as it went on.
